Dylan and Wendy are proud parents af another daughter, Rachel Isla. Rachel was born at about 8:05PM on Friday, 6th March 2009 at the Bay View Hospital in Mossel Bay. Her birth weight was 3.22kg. Leah is also pleased about having a sister and, as the last picture shows (telephone in hand), she was ready to inform all and sundry of the good news. I have taken 3 weeks annual leave at the end of the month and am planning to spend a few days with Dylan, Wendy and family during this period.
Leah turned one year old on the 26th August, 2008. Dylan and Wendy arranged a birthday party for her at #44 on Saturday, 30th August. Some 50 or so guests attended the party. Dylan and Wendy's dad did a spit-braai lamb, accompanied by lots of salads, garlic bread and other treats. Despite the inclement weather (see previous post), the party went very well. The spit was done under cover in the back yard. A fire was lit in the fireplace to keep the guests warm, while some of them watched the Tri-nations match between South Africa and Australia, which South Africa won by a record marigin of 53 - 8.
Leah has recently started eating vegetables (pureed or mashed) and judging from these pictures, she is thoroughly enjoying it. She loves pumpkin and butternut squash but I am told that she is not too keen on peas though. She also loves her bowl of Nestum (baby cereal) in the morning.
Ryan and Ashley spent some time in South Africa during January and, from what I gather, they had a wonderful time here. While in South Africa, they did lots of sightseeing, clubbing and even did shark cage diving out at Gansbaai - hmmm adventurous lads!!.

On Saturday 10th November we had a family get-together at No. 44. We, the Campbells, and Wendy's family came together for a braai (barbecue) to celebrate the return of Dylan and family. Dylan did most of the braaing of the meat ('nuff said). Leah slept for virtually the entire time that they were there (suffering a bit from jet lag, maybe?) - she is SOOO good!!!. After we had all eaten, Byron, Shamila and Erin dropped by, while the guys settled down to watch some sport on TV (including West Ham United's 5 -0 victory over Derby County) and the ladies did some chin-wagging in the lounge.
As scheduled, Dylan, Wendy and Leah arrived back at Cape Town International airport on Friday the 9th of November. I took the day off to meet them at the airport and so did Wendy's parents as well as her two sisters, Gail and Terry. It was wonderful feeling to see Leah in the flesh for the first time and also to hold her. After leaving the airport, we all briefly went down to Wendy's grandparents in Wynberg, then onto Wendy's parents abode, where Wendy's mom had prepared a light lunch. Dylan, Wendy and Leah will be in Cape Town until the 2nd December, whereafter they will be travelling down to Mossel Bay, where Dylan will commence his new job.
At Leah's last weigh-in on the 18/10/2007 her weight was 5.14kg. She had her BCG immunisation on Wednesday(24/10/2007) and her 8 week check up on the following day, which included her first set of immunisations against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hib and pneumoccal.
Leah was christened (baptised) yesterday. I am told that it was a pleasant service and that Leah was VERY good. After baptising her, the minister held her in his arms while he said prayers and during the prayers she was smiling up at him thinking that he was talking to her. Dylan and Wendy's friends, Rob and Rachel, were the "stand-in" godparents, for Gail and Terry (Wendy's siblings). They had a tea at the church for the congregation, who had been generous with gifts and well wishes for Leah . Her baptism suit was provided by Wendy's mom.

In the meantime, Dylan has been offered (and accepted) a position at the PetroSA gas plant in Mossel Bay, South Africa as a Risk Engineer. He, Wendy and Leah will, therefore, be moving back to South Africa during the first half of next month (November) - he commences his employment with PetroSA on 1st December, 2007. Excellent Dylan - we are proud of your achievements!!!.
