Sport - Super 14 Rugby Final 2007

For the first time in Super 14 rugby history will a South African team win the competition. The Sharks will host the Blue Bulls at the Absa stadium on Saturday 19th May, 2007. The South African teams both reached the final through impressive performances. The Sharks beat a game Blues outift 34-18 in Durban while the Bulls managed to contain the Crusaders and score a decisive 27-12 win in their semi-final before a boisterous sold-out Loftus Versfeld crowd in Pretoria. Bulls flyhalf Derick Hougaard kicked all of the Bulls' 27 points.
Bulls captain, Victor Matfield, stated after the match that there has been a mindshift in South African teams which will stand them in good stead through the tour by England, the Tri-Nations and, finally, the World Cup in September. Could it be that the Springboks will win the World Cup in France later this year? - one thing is certain and that is the performances by the South African teams in the competition this year, must be a big confidence booster.
