I celebrated my birthday on Saturday 25th August 2007. Some friends and family came around for a braai. Gareth did all the braaing (thanks G) -he barbecued steaks, chicken, lamb chops and sausage. Janet made a lovely potato bake and some salads, as well as baking 3 delicious cakes (thanks J) - see pics below. The cake recipes may be found on my "Food & Poetry" blog - http://finefoodandpoetry.blogspot.com .Unfortunately the pictures were taken after Melissa, Lauren, Gareth, Lloyd and Shandre left. Gareth, Lloyd and Shandre went to a dance club in Cape Town with friend Paul after they had eaten.
I received some lovely gifts (thanks all). Overall ,we had a very pleasant evening, especially the ladies who had some good laughs (about what, I don't know - my age maybe?). It was no surprise that Stephen and Lisa were once again the last to leave, at about 2am - no problem though. At this stage I had no idea that I was in for a pleasant surprise the next morning - see the following post.
